Iowa State football expected a bounce-back win over Kansas on Saturday afternoon and the Cyclones got just that, winning big.

If you’re an Iowa State fan, you had to be disheartened by a loss at Oklahoma State last week with playoff hopes and Big 12 title race positioning on the line.

Luckily, Iowa State got a chance to rebound on Saturday afternoon in Lawrence against the 0-5 Kansas Jayhawks. The Cyclones did just that, bullying the winless Jayhawks from start to finish on the road en route to a 52-22 win.

Brock Purdy got back on track against a horrid defense, Breece Hall had yet another 100-yard game and Les Miles is sent home with his tail between his legs again.

What’d we learn from this one?

3. Perfect bounce-back game for Iowa State

If there was ever opponent that would be perfect for Iowa State to record a bounce-back performance against, it’s Kansas. The Jayhawks entered the game without a single win and they exit the game with an 0-6 record.

Iowa State was coming off a tough loss at Oklahoma State which knocked it out of playoff consideration and the confidence needed to be picked back up.

Thank goodness for Kansas football.

Les Miles’ turnaround is happening slower than expected as the Jayhawks are still the laughingstock of the conference and Iowa State was the latest team to take shots at the Big 12’s punching bag. They needed a win after a crushing loss and they got it.

This is the kind of pick-me-up that can carry over throughout the rest of the year.
