BYU Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win over Western Kentucky
1. BYU should be given serious playoff consideration
Before you start laughing and calling me crazy, just hear me out.
BYU is now 7-0 on the season and it’s only had one game that’s been decided by less than 17 points. The Cougars beat UTSA 27-20 a few weeks ago which was the closes game of the year while the rest have been blowouts. They are beating teams that they’re supposed to by wide margins and they’re fun to watch.
There has never been a Group of Five team in the playoff, but judging by the craziness of 2020, this would be the year that it happens.
Right now, Cincinnati would be the favorite to make the playoff as the Bearcats are ranked near the top five and they, too, are dominating everyone. But outside of the Bearcats, BYU is the only other Group of Five team that’s worthy of playoff consideration.
Plus, who wouldn’t want to see Zach Wilson in the playoff trying to make a name for himself in a quarterback duel with guys like Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence or Mac Jones?
