Ohio State football went into Happy Valley and made an early season statement with a 38-25 win over the Nittany Lions. What did we learn?

This rivalry between Ohio State and Penn State has produced some classic games over the past few years. Tonight was not one of them.

Ohio State was in control from start to finish, coming away with a 38-25 victory in Happy Valley. Justin Fields once again led the Buckeyes’ offense with a great performance. Fields finished 28-for-34 with 318 yards and four touchdowns. The Buckeyes rushing offense came alive tonight, started off by a 62-yard rush by Garrett Wilson on the first play of the game.

Master Teague led the Buckeyes’ rushing attack that went for 208 yards and averaged 4.6 yards per carry. And for the second straight week, Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson both had 100-yard days. It was truly a dominant performance by the Ohio State offense.

For Penn State, their offense needs to get back to the drawing board after a disappointing showing. After their first field goal, the Nittany Lions had three drives in the second quarter and only picked up four yards.

Sean Clifford had nowhere to go, being sacked five times and was under constant pressure all night long. Their defense was only able to force two punts from the Buckeyes offense that dominated time of possession. All in all, Penn State did not look like they were in the same weight class as the Buckeyes.

With both teams trending in different directions, what did we learn?
