1. Big 12 will be left out of the College Football Playoff

For just the third time since the College Football Playoff was introduced in 2015, the Big 12 is likely not going to receive an invite.

All of the Power Five conferences have received invitations to the playoff, but the Big 12 is the only conference to remain winless. Oklahoma has represented the conference all four times, but have lost every game by an average margin of 18 points. Oklahoma State was the lone undefeated team remaining in the conference entering Saturday, and now no Big 12 team is undefeated.

Oklahoma State’s loss opens the door for Cincinnati, a Group of Five team, to enter the playoff conversation. Should the Bearcats catch the committee’s eye, they would become the first Group of Five team to be invited to the playoff.

With Spencer Sanders likely returning next season, Gundy and the Cowboys will once again have a shot at a playoff spot.
