This crowded college football season is about to be even more crowded with the Pac-12 coming into the hunt for a playoff berth.

Teams are looking to win big to make their case for the playoff or help keep their season on track. There were plenty of upsets this past weekend but there were several that topped the list.

No. 6 Oklahoma Oklahoma State’s 41-34 loss in overtime to Texas was among the worst losses this past weekend from an analytical standpoint. The Cowboys were the lone undefeated Big 12 team remaining this far into the year. That loss to the Longhorns potentially knocked the Big 12 out of the chase for the playoff.

No. 13 Michigan had a home contest against rival Michigan State, which lost to Rutgers the previous week. Their 27-24 loss to the Spartans wasn’t huge in terms of point differential but it was an embarrassing loss. The Wolverines’ defeat potentially kicks them out of the playoff race and it puts head coach Jim Harbaugh on the hot seat.

More games were blowouts and could be included on this list. The game between No. 24 Oklahoma at Texas Tech was projected to have 90 total points scored but the Red Raiders barely contributed to that as they lost 62-28. Vanderbilt was crushed at home 54-21 by Ole Miss. Rebel quarterback Matt Corral threw for six touchdowns in the win.

Here are the worst losses from Week 9.
