College Football 2020: Top 5 Group of Five teams on upset in Week 10
Taking a look at college football’s Group of Five teams in trouble heading into their Week 10 matchups. Could New Year’s Six hopes be crushed?
Week 10’s slate of Group of Five games is headlined by a Friday night matchup between BYU and Boise State. It’s expected to be BYU’s biggest measuring of the stick of the 2020 college football season. However, it wouldn’t be a major upset if they lost. Boise State is ranked, and there’s plenty of people who think they’d be ranked higher if their season hadn’t started just two weeks ago.
Luckily, there are plenty of other games in the Group of Five this weekend where a team is about to go on upset alert.
5. Louisiana (vs. Arkansas State)
It wasn’t long ago that Louisiana was coming off a Big 12 win, was ranked as high as 19th, and was the favorite to win the Sun Belt before they dropped a game at Coastal Carolina. They fell from the top 25 and were nationally moved on from.
Except, Arkansas State won’t have forgotten them.
The Red Wolves are very well coached and they’ll believe they can hang with a Ragin’ Cajuns team that still has Sun Belt title aspirations. They’ve been running a two-quarterback system, which hasn’t always made sense. Both Arkansas State quarterbacks, Logan Bonner and Layne Hatcher, have a similar style. Normally two-quarterback systems balance a passing and a rushing quarterback, but it’s almost like Arkansas State can’t choose who they prefer. Still, it works, with the Red Wolves passing for 355.3 yards per game.
If one of their quarterbacks gets hot, Arkansas State will be able to challenge Louisiana in a shootout.
