BYU football opens the weekend with a monster game at Boise State with a potential playoff spot on the line. What could take place?

Kalani Sitake is piecing together a special season. Coming into the year, who would have thought BYU would be making a push at a College Football Playoff berth and almost a likely trip to a New Year’s Six bowl? Definitely not me.

The Cougars took advantage of a fixed schedule with not nearly as many Power Five matchups and they are now 7-0 heading into a huge Week 10 battle with Boise State.

The Broncos are 2-0 on the year but Hank Bachmeier might miss this contest due to injury. That could lead to a letdown for Boise State at home against No. 9 BYU. If the Cougars can win this game, the path to a New Year’s Six bowl would be much clearer.

Let’s get bold ahead of Friday night’s showdown.

3. Tyler Allgeier will rush for over 100 yards

It’s been a few weeks since Tyler Allgeier has rushed for 100 yards. Actually, it’s been almost a month as the last time he reached the century mark was Oct. 10 against UTSA, but he’s been effective with the ball in his hands, averaging over 5.0 yards per carry in two of the three games since then.

Allgeier will finally break 100 yards again versus Boise State.

The sophomore running back is in the midst of a breakout season with over 500 yards and seven touchdowns on 6.5 yards per carry and he’s going to break 700 yards on the year with eight scores. It’ll only take him about 13 carries to break the century mark on Friday night.

If Allgeier is playing at this high level and Zach Wilson continues to shred defenses, watch out.
