College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 11
By Zach Bigalke
BYU continued to make its dark-horse case for the College Football Playoff this year as they dominated No. 21 Boise State on the road. The Cougars stampeded to a 51-17 victory over the Broncos, running roughshod on the Smurf Turf as they racked up 571 yards of offense. With the win, look for BYU to push a spot or two up the AP Top 25 this week as they consolidate top-10 position and present a tough case to evaluate for the selection committee later in November.
Zach Wilson had another huge game at quarterback, throwing for 359 yards and two touchdowns on 21-of-27 passing. Wilson also punched in a rushing touchdown, one of four Cougars to score on the ground. The backfield was led by Tyler Allgeier, who racked up 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns on just 14 carries. Allgeier was one of three BYU running backs to average more than eight yards per carry against an overmatched Boise State defense.
Only two more games remain at present on BYU’s schedule. The Cougars will have the weekend off in Week 11 before they host FCS North Alabama on November 21. The regular-season finale for BYU won’t come until December 12 against San Diego State, leaving several idle weeks where we might still see the Cougars try to add another game or two to bolster their Playoff claim.
