Louisiana prevailed in a defensive struggle at home against Arkansas State in Week 10, taking down the Red Wolves 27-20 in early Saturday action to improve to 6-1. With the win, the Ragin’ Cajuns should have enough momentum to return to the AP Top 25 after entering the week second-best among the others receiving votes in the poll.

Levi Lewis had a solid if unspectacular game in victory, as he completed 17 of his 29 attempts for 244 yards. Lewis threw a touchdown and an interception along the way, and he also added a rushing touchdown and 26 yards on the ground to pace Louisiana to victory. After Nate Snyder missed a 30-yard attempt, backup placekicker Kenneth Almendares added field goals from 35 and 43 yards to help the Ragin’ Cajuns reach the winning margin.

With the win, Billy Napier’s team shored up their position atop the Sun Belt West standings. Sitting ahead of South Alabama in the division standings, the Ragin’ Cajuns host the Jaguars in Week 11 in a game that could effectively determine which team represents the West in the conference championship game. A win will lock down Louisiana’s place in the polls; a loss would send them out of the rankings for the rest of the season.
