College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 11
By Zach Bigalke
There was a changing of the guard in the SEC East in Week 10, as No. 8 Florida took down No. 5 Georgia 44-28 on neutral turf in Jacksonville. The Gators pulled away from their rivals for their first win in the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party since 2016 and set themselves as the new leaders in the SEC East race this year. Florida will jump at least two to four spots in the next AP Top 25 after winning one of the two biggest games of the weekend.
Though he lost an interception to the Georgia secondary, Kyle Trask otherwise carved up the Bulldogs for 474 yards and four touchdowns on 30-of-43 passing. Trask’s aerial efforts offset a rather anemic rushing performance by the Gators, who finished with just 97 yards on the ground as a team. A Florida defense that has raised eyebrows plenty of times this season clamped down and held the Bulldogs to just 277 total yards as a team.
With an even smaller number next to their name heading into Week 11, Florida will prepare for a contest against former Gators quarterback Feleipe Franks as he returns to the Swamp with Arkansas. Five more conference games remain before Florida can claim the division title, but Dan Mullen’s team put themselves in the driver’s seat after effectively gaining a two-game lead on everyone else in the East.
