College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 11
By Zach Bigalke
Auburn jumped back into the AP Top 25 on the first full weekend of November after they trounced LSU 48-11 on the Plains. The Tigers should have no trouble remaining in the poll this week, even with an open date in Week 11 on their schedule. As they prepare for the home stretch of the SEC season, Gus Malzahn’s team has a real chance to continue playing spoiler in the conference and boosting its dark-horse chances of landing a New Year’s Six bid.
In large part, Auburn’s push to 4-2 has occurred despite a mostly anemic offense. Bo Nix has been slightly better than he was in his freshman season, but the quarterback still ranks just 64th nationally in passing efficiency. Tank Bigsby ranks in the top 20 in the FBS in all-purpose yards per game, but that is heavily bolstered by his role as a kick returner; Bigsby averages fewer than 85 rushing yards per game.
Coming out of their weekend off, Auburn heads to Starkville in Week 11 to take on Mississippi State. With Alabama and Texas A&M both on the schedule still at the end of the regular season, the Tigers have a real chance to upset the balance of power in the SEC West and ruin the league’s chances of getting two teams in the College Football Playoff.
