After a slow start that spotted the home side a 13-10 halftime lead, SMU regrouped at the intermission and took down Temple 47-23 in Philadelphia to stay alive in the American Athletic Conference race. The Mustangs rolled up 549 total yards of offense in another dominant effort, ensuring another week in the teens of the AP Top 25 and an outside shot at a berth in the New Year’s Six out of the Group of Five.

Shane Buechele piled 355 passing yards and four touchdowns on the Temple defense, completing 24 of his 35 attempts on another dominant day. Both Kylen Granson and Tyler Page finished in triple digits in receiving yardage; Granson hauled in six Buechele passes for 149 yards and a touchdown, while Page snatched two scoring strikes and racked up 131 yards on nine receptions. The defense settled down and held Temple to 368 total yards.

Sitting a game behind Cincinnati and Tulsa in the AAC standings, the Mustangs will get the chance to get the upper hand on the Golden Hurricane when they square off in Week 11 in Oklahoma. If they can take down Tulsa on the road, SMU closes out the regular season with a home date against Houston and a road trip to East Carolina all before the end of November.
