One of the most surprisingly entertaining SEC games this week was the comeback of Arkansas football in the third quarter to beat Tennessee 24-13.

Before the 2020 season, many expected the Tennessee Volunteers to contest for an SEC title and the Arkansas Razorbacks would be back at the bottom of the SEC barrel.

This season, the Arkansas Razorbacks have been one of the biggest surprises of the SEC as they are around the middle of the SEC. The Volunteers have been declining for multiple seasons and are continuing down the path.

Tennessee came into this game as a two-point favorite over Arkansas which are looking to become a contender in the SEC West. The Volunteers ended the first half with a 13-0 lead over the Razorbacks as they were efficient on both sides of the ball. After halftime, the Razorbacks came back with a much more efficient plan for their team on both sides of the ball.

The Razorbacks scored 24 unanswered points in the third quarter in a much more focused effort against the Volunteers. They out-gained the Volunteers 257-16 as well as first downs 10-0.

This game highlighted the rise of the Razorbacks with their productivity on the field as well as a program while Tennessee continues to drop further into the bottom of the barrel in the SEC East. The Volunteers won the first half but all it took for Arkansas to win was a dominant third-quarter performance.

Here are the three takeaways from the Razorbacks’ surprising 24-13 comeback win over the Volunteers on Saturday.
