1. Quick takeaways for Houston

It is clear head coach Dana Holgorsen is still in the midst of rebuilding Houston in his image. Marquez Stevenson did not play in this game, and that hurt the passing attack. The Cougars’ offensive line got no push in the run game. The Bearcats were able to set the edge and stuff the rushing attack.

Not only did the offense have issues, but the defense was also mauled in this game. Houston had no answer for the running game of the Bearcats. Houston could not get off of the field on third down most of the game either. It seemed as if the Bearcats were ahead of the chains all game.

Quick takeaways for Cincinnati

The Bearcats have to love how they’ve handled this three-game stretch. The defense has outclassed their opponents during this stretch. The Bearcats have allowed an average of 11 points per game during this three-game stretch while scoring 43 points per game in the same stretch.

The Bearcats get a reprieve when they host a struggling East Carolina squad next week before their final stretch of the season. Although East Carolina gave the Bearcats all, they could handle last season. The Bearcats end their season with three straight road games, including a tough game against Central Florida on Nov. 21.
