3. The defense tells the story

Despite the loss, this is one of Nebraska’s best defensive performances in the Scott Frost era. It was definitely one of their best defensive performances in the Big Ten. Nebraska gave up 317 yards and had two turnovers.

The Cornhuskers had just one sack but got good pressure on Northwestern quarterback Peyton Ramsey with nine quarterback hurries.

Northwestern, on the other hand, surrendered over 400 yards, but Nebraska could not score. The Wildcats made plays when it counted. In the second half, one of Northwestern’s interceptions came when Nebraska was attempting to score.

This game was a case of two halves. Northwestern was sloppy offensively and allowed Nebraska to make plays offensively in the first half. Northwestern tightened up and took care of the football in the second half. Nebraska was sloppy in the second half and could not stop Northwestern’s offense from making big plays.
