5. Iowa (at Minnesota)

A Friday night pillow fight between two of the most disappointing teams in the country so far.

OK, maybe “pillow fight” is a little stiff, but disappointing is an understatement. Two teams that were popular picks to win the Big 10 West enter the game at 1-2, each team needs this win.

It’s hard to get a read on Iowa, having lost to Northwestern and Purdue in losses that don’t look nearly as bad now. But last week the Hawkeyes came to life, blowing out equally confusing Michigan State 49-7.

Minnesota was blown out by a Michigan team that was defeated by the aforementioned Michigan State Spartans, lost a shootout by blowing a lead to Maryland and finally defeating Illinois last week.

If this is a slow, plodding game that moves at a glacial pace as you’d expect from these two, Iowa’s defense will likely have done enough to come away with a victory.

This one seems simple: the more points scored, the more it favors Minnesota. The Gophers have a more explosive offense and Mohamed Ibrahim establishing the run early against a solid front seven of Iowa will go a long way.
