Arkansas Football: 3 takeaways from blowout loss to Florida
While Arkansas football has been competitive all season, the Razorbacks didn’t stand much of a chance against Kyle Trask and Florida.
Arkansas has been in every game this season and things were looking positive for the Razorbacks even without Sam Pittman on the sidelines in the first quarter, but Florida dominated the second quarter en route to another big win.
Feleipe Franks wanted to get out there and upset his former team which moved on from him after an injury for Kyle Trask, but he came up short. He had a good game, however, but the defense couldn’t slow Trask and the Gators, dropping to 3-4 on the season.
What did we learn from Arkansas’ loss to Florida?
3. The run game was cooking
On a night when the run game was doing its job and picking up chunks on almost every carry, it was unfortunate to see that the Razorbacks couldn’t utilize it because the score was already out of hand. Moreover, the Gators were dominating the time of possession all game — they started the night with a 14-play, 75-yard drive that took about eight minutes off the clock.
The play-calling was relatively balanced but when the score was out of hand in the second half, Franks got to drop back a little more.
Trelon Smith rushed for over 100 yards and Rakeem Boyd had 56 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. As a team, the Razorbacks had 208 yards on 6.8 yards per touch and this was a huge win for Arkansas.
