College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 12
By Zach Bigalke
Indiana took care of business against Michigan State on Saturday, improving to 4-0 in the standings with a 24-0 shutout of the Spartans in East Lansing. With the win the Hoosiers pushed ahead of Ohio State in the Big Ten East standings, though they will remain behind the Buckeyes in the AP Top 25 heading into Week 12. Tom Allen’s team nevertheless shored up their position among the top 10 teams in the country.
Michael Penix Jr. didn’t have the best of games, throwing two interceptions along the way. But Penix also finished 25-of-38 for 320 yards and two touchdowns, making up for his mistakes with another solid performance. Ty Fryfogle had a huge game on the other end of Penix’s passes, hauling in 11 receptions for 200 yards and both aerial scores. The defense held Michigan State to only 191 total yards of offense and forced four Spartans turnovers.
Next week the big test looms for Indiana, as the Hoosiers head to the Horseshoe for a Week 12 battle against Ohio State. The winner of the game will have the inside track on the Big Ten East championship, while the loser will effectively fall two games back in the division race due to the head-to-head tiebreaker. A win in Columbus would vault Indiana into the top five of the AP Top 25 right ahead of the first release of the College Football Playoff standings.
