5-1. postponed at Tennessee. 7. 873. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Texas A&M Aggies. player

Texas A&M was sidelined by COVID-19 in Week 11, as the Aggies were forced to postpone their game at Tennessee once they realized they would be unable to field the minimum of 53 healthy players. That lost opportunity in Knoxville could cause Jimbo Fisher’s crew to drop a spot or two in the AP Top 25 as teams immediately below them take their opportunity to impress pollsters. It could also hurt their chances of securing an at-large bid into the College Football Playoff as a one-loss division runner-up.

The Aggies have been solid enough on both offense and defense, though they have hardly been the most electric unit on either side of the ball in the SEC. The offensive line has been especially good at keeping opponents from getting behind the line of scrimmage; Texas A&M ranks fourth nationally in sacks allowed per game and seventh nationally in total negative plays. The defense has been susceptible to the pass but holds opponents under 100 yards per game on the ground.

With the game against Tennessee rescheduled for December 12, Texas A&M will hope that their team is healthy enough to host Ole Miss in Week 12. If that game is also postponed, December 19 marks the last possible window for making up the contest. In the fight to earn a New Year’s Six berth and potentially play for the College Football Playoff, the Aggies need every data point they can get.
