Notre Dame football makes another statement against an old friend in the Holy War. What did we learn from the Irish win over Boston College?

All this talk about 1993 for nothing. Notre Dame continued its undefeated season today, defeating now 5-4 Boston College by a score of 45-31.

Hopefully, this is it for talk about a game that happened before anyone on either team was even born.

Of course, that was secondary to the main storyline: a face off with former Irish backup quarterback Phil Jurkovec, who transferred from the Irish in January. It wasn’t exactly a surprise, especially since he was a clear backup to Ian Book.

The Irish looked solid all around today, particularly on offense against despite some turnovers.

We learned a lot about the identity of this team last week against Clemson, but what did we learn today?

3. Notre Dame can overcome mistakes thanks to the defense

We didn’t necessarily just learn this today. But we did get confirmation.

Fumbles were an issue for the Irish today, losing three. But the Irish defense held tough, limiting Boston College to three points off of those turnovers.

The Irish defense has been good all season and stepped up in big situations, which it did once again today.

The Irish only allowed 85 yards rushing all game. They also held the Eagles passing attack to 272 yards passing. In total, 357 yards of offense were allowed.
