1. USC continues to play down to its competition

Even with the win, a lot of USC fans would say they are displeased with the team’s performance. As many college football fans would probably tell you, USC is the more talented team. However, the Trojans did not play that way as they have tended to do this over the years.

Arizona is a young team with their skill player pre-dominantly being underclassmen.

Kedon Slovis had just a few deep shots and when he did throw the ball vertically, he overthrew his intended receivers. Crucial penalties on third down and blown assignments on easy conversions seem to be a new theme for every possession, specifically on offense.

Another one of the negatives to take away was the amount of penalties and how costly they were. USC getting in the way of themselves was a theme throughout the entirety of this game.

Over the past 4-5 seasons, USC fans have expected to blow out majority of the teams that they overwhelm on paper. However, that has not been the case and regardless of record, the fanbase are starting to get agitated.

If something doesn’t change under Clay Helton, his seat in Los Angeles just might get warmer and warmer.

USC will be on the road once again, playing Utah next week. For Arizona, they will be on the road as well, traveling to Seattle to play Washington.
