Neal Brown and West Virginia football keep trucking through that schedule and don’t look now, but after a TCU win, the Mountaineers are 5-3.

If you’re West Virginia, you have to feel good about where things are right now with the program. The Mountaineers are 5-3 after beating TCU on Saturday afternoon.

The Mountaineers are looking like an up-and-coming team in the Big 12 this season and while they may not win the conference title in 2020, they should be excited about the future. The team is coming together at the right time and both sides of the ball are clicking right now.

West Virginia is now 4-3 in conference play and with that fifth win overall, there’s a good chance we will see the Mountaineers bowling no matter what this season.

What’d we learn from Saturday’s win over TCU?

3. Jarret Doege is as steady as they come

Honestly, I’m not even surprised anymore. Jarret Doege went from a backup last season, to a starter by the end of the year and now he looks like one of the better quarterbacks in the Big 12.

Against TCU, Doege passed for 212 yards and two touchdowns with no picks on 19-of-26 completions.

After another solid performance against TCU, he has over 2,200 yards and 13 touchdowns on the year with just three interceptions. Even more impressive is his completion rate of over 65 percent which is a career-high.

The Bowling Green transfer showed promise last season and has carried that over into this year and no one could have expected the type of nearly-flawless campaign he’s been having.

If you’re Neal Brown, you’re ecstatic that you have another year of Doege.
