The Holy War was supposed to be a tightly-contested game between Boston College and Notre Dame football in Week 11, but the Irish dominated.

For the eighth straight time in the series, Notre Dame came away with a win in the Holy War over Boston College. The Irish dominated from the end of the first half until the final whistle, mounting a large leader before halftime which was all they needed.

Ian Book and Phil Jurkovec got to match up for the first time ever and had a decent battle that the former won.

Notre Dame just out-toughed Boston College for 60 minutes and out-dueled the Eagles on both sides of the ball to improve to 8-0 and avoid a Clemson win hangover.

Let’s get into some of my hottest takes from Notre Dame’s win.

3. This is the best rushing offense in the Brian Kelly era

Brian Kelly has had some really good running backs in his time at Notre Dame like Josh Adams and Dexter Williams but he may have his best backfield to date in 2020.

Sophomore Kyren Williams leads the way and he is over 700 yards on the season. He only had nine carries for 37 yards against Boston College and yet the Irish still managed to put up 274 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Williams has been the workhorse all season but he didn’t even need to break 50 yards for the rushing offense to go off. He was picked up by C’Bo Flemister who had 53 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries and Chris Tyree who had 74 yards on 17 touches. Ian Book also led the team with 85 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

Never before has Kelly had such an elite run game, and that’s including when he had Brandon Wimbush at quarterback and Josh Adams behind him.
