There’s a lot of great games this weekend in college football’s Group of Five, but these five games are the ones to watch out for potential upsets.

In a year with more ranked Group of Five teams than ever before, there’s more teams in trouble of being upset, despite being in the Group of Five than ever before. This week in particular there are a bunch of at risk teams, from the best of the Group of Five down to unranked teams.

Of course, these aren’t upset picks. More accurately, they’re teams who could be at risk of an upset. It’s a small, but notable distinction to remember when looking through these five Group of Five teams on upset alert.

5. Tulsa (vs. Tulane)

Tulsa is finally ranked. Seriously, they’ve deserved to see a number next to their name for a long time. Their defense is second only to Cincinnati in the AAC. They’ve overcome tons of adversity, including multiple double digit deficits, but have stayed unbeaten in conference play. In fact, their only loss is to an Oklahoma State team they should have beaten.

This week they’ll welcome a hungry Tulane team to town. The Green Wave have beat Tulsa three straight seasons, and want to spoil the Golden Hurricane’s Cinderella run for the conference title. Tulane is also loaded on the defensive line, and could be disruptive enough to keep Tulsa down on offense.

Really, the trick for Tulane will be figuring out how to consistently score on Tulsa, which not even UCF or SMU managed to do for a full game. However, if they can get into the mid-20s for scoring, Tulsa doesn’t bring tons of their own offense to play with. And, considering how lucky Tulsa had to get against teams like ECU, you know their team talent doesn’t match their record.
