1. UCLA at Oregon

At a glance, this game seems like it could be a disaster for UCLA. At best, they’ve struggled during Chip Kelly’s tenure. They’re also operating on a short week, and getting ready to play the Pac-12’s best team: the Oregon Ducks. Ironically, Oregon is where Kelly became a household name as he went 46-7, with his worst season including a Rose Bowl loss and No. 11 finish.

Kelly left for the NFL, to unsuccessfully try and prove that his offensive system could work at the highest level. Now in his third season at UCLA, Kelly is finally showing some promise following seven total wins in his first two seasons.

Yes, the Colorado box score looked ugly, but most of that damage was done in the first quarter and a half. It was also largely from a turnover spree that UCLA couldn’t overcome. Since midway through the second quarter at Colorado, UCLA has outscored opponents 69-23. That includes dominating a Cal team we at least thought was pretty good.

Yes, Oregon is much more talented, but UCLA could keep this game closer than what most people expect. Even if they don’t there’s intrigue around what Kelly’s career could have been if he never left Oregon.
