Arkansas football will be looking to pull off a big win over the defending national champions but will the Razorbacks be able to pull even at .500?

Sam Pittman is trying to lead Arkansas to something it hasn’t done in five years. The Razorbacks haven’t beaten LSU since 2015 when Bret Bielema was still head coach.

The Razorbacks have lost four straight in the series and three out of four of them have been decided by at least 23 points. If Arkansas is going to reverse the direction of the series, it’s going to need to beat a down LSU team on Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville.

Arkansas is 3-4 on the season but should be 4-3 — that’s a hill I’m willing to die on. The Razorbacks could pull back to .500 with a win and record their fourth SEC win on the year after going winless in conference play in 2018 and 2019.

Let’s dive into some bold predictions.

3. Arkansas has two 100-yard rushers

Trelon Smith and Rakeem Boyd make for one of the more underrated backfield duos in college football. Why is it so underrated? Because Boyd has suffered somewhat of a down year.

Smith leads the team with 441 yards and a touchdown on 5.7 yards per carry and Boyd — a 1,000-yard rusher last season — is second with 309 yards and three scores on a lackluster 3.8 yards per carry. Smith is coming off his first 100-yard game of the season against Florida and Boyd is three games removed from his lone 100-yard performance.

These two haven’t aligned for the same breakout week yet and that’s going to change on Saturday afternoon against LSU.

The Tigers don’t have a great run defense but it’s good enough to stop a team like Arkansas on the ground but I see both Smith and Boyd breaking the 100-yard mark, carrying the offense.
