Louisville football has had a nightmare season but the Cardinals could get right on Friday night against a hapless Syracuse team.

Eight games into the 2020 season, no one envisioned that Louisville with all the talent it has on the roster would be just 2-6. It has a chance to win out, but it starts on Friday night with Syracuse.

The Cardinals look like a bottom-dweller in the ACC despite having a quarterback with the 13th-most passing yards in the country, an 800-yard rusher who just opted out for the NFL draft and the talented Tutu Atwell at receiver.

No one said this team was short on talent, but with Javian Hawkins opting out and Atwell coming off an injury, it’s going to be tough to win out and carry some momentum over into 2021.

Let’s dive into some bold predictions for Friday night’s ACC battle of bottom-dwellers.

3. Jalen Mitchell rushes for 100 yards

Javian Hawkins is gone so the backfield for Louisville will be experiencing some turnover. The talented rushing leader decided to opt out of the remainder of the season in order to focus on the NFL draft and it’s hard to blame him after the start the Cardinals have gotten off to.

Louisville will have to find his replacement and I think it’ll be freshman sensation Jalen Mitchell who has been more than efficient this season.

Although there are a couple of other options in the backfield, the freshman looked the part against Virginia last week, rushing seven times for 76 yards, averaging over 10 yards per touch. On the season, he has just 89 yards on 11 carries, but expect that number to more than double against the Orange on Friday night.

Everyone is going to be jumping on the Mitchell bandwagon after he rushes for 100-plus yards against Syracuse and that horrible run defense. He and Malik Cunningham may both reach 100 yards on the game.
