College GameDay will be in Norman for the 115th iteration of Bedlam. Here are three bold predictions for Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State football.

Even for all the strangeness brought to us by the year 2020, this year’s Bedlam meeting might live up to some odd expectations.

First, Oklahoma State enters its annual ‘Bedlam’ rivalry game against Oklahoma with a higher ranking for the first time since 2013 (which resulted in a 33-24 loss by the No. 6 Cowboys to the No. 18 Sooners). Oklahoma lost to Kansas State and Iowa State to open Big 12 play this year, the first time the Sooners had lost back-to-back games in the regular season since 1999.

Second, Oklahoma State’s defense has been the strength of the team for the 2020 season. This isn’t wholly surprising considering that the defense returned virtually everyone from last season and had been improving steadily.

It is, however, a shocker to consider that the high-powered offense in Stillwater under Mike Gundy’s tutelage are now taking a back seat to a stout Cowboys defensive unit that’s only surrendering 311.5 yards per contest (16th-best mark in the nation). The Cowboys offense has consistently ranked among the best in the nation in points scored and in total yards — but even that’s different, too, this year. The unit has only scored 28 points per game,

And lastly, there’s the quarterback play. Oklahoma State has had several signal-callers playing in the NFL, and Oklahoma has recently seen two consecutive Heisman Trophy winners under center.

This year’s duo — OSU’s Spencer Sanders and OU’s Spencer Rattler — haven’t performed quite as well as many have hoped. While Sanders has struggled with turnovers and an injury, Rattler has had his own interception problems in big moments. For the best players on either team, you might be better off to look at OSU’s secondary (senior corner Rodarius Williams) or to Oklahoma’s skill players (freshman wide out Marvin Mims).

Here are three bold predictions for 2020’s Bedlam matchup.
