1. Quick takeaways for App State

Despite the big game for Camerun Peoples, the Mountaineers turned the ball over three times. Zac Wilson was not sharp last week against Georgia State and was not sharp today against Coastal. It was obvious the Mountaineers had an advantage in the passing game, but the Wilson was under duress most of the game.

App State is likely eliminated from Sun Belt Championship game contention with the loss. However, the Mountaineers are likely to go bowling again this season. If the Mountaineers do not make it back it will be only the second time since joining the Sun Belt they have not won a conference title.

Quick takeaways for Coastal Carolina

Today’s win was the biggest in school history. Despite the pressure of the game, Coastal responded to the pressure. It was clear what App State wanted to do against the Chanticleers on both sides of the ball, but Coastal responded. In the second half, Coastal’s defense kept App State in third and long forcing Zac Smith to throw on third down.

With the win, Coastal Carolina sits atop the Sun Belt East division. Likely, the Chanticleers have a rematch against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns for the Sun Belt title.
