Liberty Football: 3 takeaways from devastating loss to NC State

1. Defensively, there were signs of encouragement

This was a unit that has been heavily criticized throughout the year. Although it hasn’t been awful, they have given up over 300 yards and 22 points per game. That stretch includes giving up 36 to Florida International and 35 to Southern Miss.

From a statistical standpoint, NC State matched what Liberty was giving up.

However, the results have not been the same. Through the third quarter, the Wolfpack had three three-and-outs and only had 26 total yards during those 15 minutes.

Liberty has a chance to win out and make a NY6 appearance. The CFP is out of the picture, with being so low in the ranking and not enough quality games. In hope of playing the loser of a conference championship game, Liberty is going to need to play similar to this if they do win out.
