Louisville football needed a huge victory to salvage its season. On Friday, it did so by shutting out the Syracuse Orange 30-0.

Friday was a unique night for college football as there were two Power Five games. The opening game of the night was a battle between teams near the bottom of the ACC between Louisville Cardinals and Syracuse.

This game was a matchup that featured two offenses that either had problems with productivity or consistency. On Friday night, the Louisville Cardinals showed that they plenty of fight in them despite a tough season affected by COVID-19. The Cardinals dominated the Orange 30-0 at home.

The Cardinals took a 3-0 lead from the first quarter and went into halftime with a 20-0 advantage. Louisville showed dominance on both sides of the ball against the Orange. The Cardinals out-gained the Orange in total yards 413-137 as well as first downs 26-7.

Louisville’s offense held the ball for more than 41 minutes.

The decisive victory by the Cardinals highlighted how much more advanced they are compared to the Orange despite the small difference in wins so far this season.

Louisville dominated the Orange in every area of the game as they suffocated them in a shutout. This showed the Cardinals still are looking to develop more into their rebounding as a program. Syracuse, on the other hand, is now likely looking to make some legitimate changes to their program with the embarrassing loss.

Here are three takeaways from the Cardinals’ dominant win over Syracuse.
