Projected 2020 College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings for Week 13

A 42-17 loss to Clemson is all that stands between Miami and a perfect season through the first dozen weeks of the 2020 campaign. The Hurricanes sat out Week 12 after to a COVID-19 outbreak on the team forced the postponement of their game against Georgia Tech. The game against the Yellow Jackets will be played on December 19 — if the Hurricanes don’t reach the ACC championship game held on the same date.
The loss against Clemson meant that Miami needs the Tigers to lose another game in the regular season to jump ahead of them in the standings, despite both teams featuring identical 6-1 ACC records. Given issues with COVID-19 at Clemson, it isn’t the most far-fetched possibility in a disjointed season. (They could also reach the title game if Notre Dame loses twice in their final three games.
After taking Week 12 off and following it up with a previously-scheduled idle weekend in Week 13, Miami hopes to return to the field on December 5 at Wake Forest. That is the last road game of the regular season for the Hurricanes, who close out the year with North Carolina at home and then either the ACC championship or the Georgia tech makeup game.
