Projected 2020 College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings for Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Ranked in the top five of the AP Top 25 and at No. 6 in the Coaches Poll, the College Football Playoff selection committee might have a contrary take on Texas A&M. The Aggies continue to be sidelined by coronavirus, as COVID-19 positives and players under quarantine forced a second straight postponement against an SEC opponent. A week after moving their game at Tennessee, A&M had to call off their Week 12 home showdown against Ole Miss.
The cold calculus of a sport that continues to use college athletes as test cases for coronavirus transmission is that Texas A&M cannot afford to keep missing games if they hope to remain in the hunt for a top-four seed. Without earth-shattering numbers on either offense or defense, the Aggies need more wins to justify their high standing.
Should they play all of their four remaining games and run the table, though, Texas A&M is a lock to at least land in a New Year’s Six bowl game. LSU is due to visit College Station on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, with road trips to Auburn and Tennessee preceding the makeup game against Ole Miss.
