BYU left nothing on the table as they took FCS North Alabama to the woodshed in Week 12. The Cougars pummeled the Lions 66-14 on Saturday afternoon in Provo, improving to 9-0 in what is (as of now) their penultimate game of the regular season. Though they have hardly played a murderer’s row of opponents, the Cougars have performed exactly as one would expect a top-10 program to perform against their cobbled-together slate.

Zach Wilson finished the game with 212 yards and four touchdowns on 10-of-16 passing, keeping his name among the contenders to land a virtual spot at this year’s Heisman ceremony in just one half of work. Tyler Allgeier had a stellar game on the ground, rushing for 141 yards and two scores on an average of 10.8 yards per carry. The BYU defense was especially stout against the run, giving up just 54 total rushing yards and forcing the Lions to play one-dimensional offense.

Unless they can schedule a Pac-12 opponent now that the Power Five league has opened the door to the possibility of non-conference games in the event of cancellations, BYU will be sidelined over the next two weeks until their regular-season finale on December 12 at San Diego State. If they can land another game, it will only bolster BYU’s hopes of snatching a long-shot top-four spot.
