Projected 2020 College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings for Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Auburn pulled away at home against Tennessee in Week 12, winning 30-17 to improve to 5-2 in 2020. The Tigers have been hovering in the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll, and they will get similar respect from the College Football Playoff selection committee. Look for them to come in somewhere in the low 20s of the first committee rankings when they release their Top 25 on Tuesday evening.
Bo Nix outdueled Jarrett Guarantano, going 17-of-26 for 220 yards with a touchdown and an interception. (Auburn’s defense held Guarantano to 156 yards and an interception on 15-of-23 passing.) D.J. Williams led the way on the ground for the Tigers, churning out 66 yards on 11 carries. Shaun Shivers added 65 yards on 14 carries. It was another workmanlike performance by Gus Malzahn’s crew as they head toward the final weekend of November.
Next on the schedule is a trip to Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl against Alabama. Auburn excels in wreaking havoc on the Crimson Tide in these rivalry games, but they will be a major underdog even with a number by their name. If they do upset the Tide on the road, Texas A&M and Mississippi State await as December tests standing between Auburn and a New Year’s Six bid.
