20. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 5-2. lost 41-13 at No. 18 Oklahoma. Oklahoma State Cowboys. player. 856

Oklahoma State lost control of their own destiny in the Big 12 race in Week 12 and will drop completely out of mention as a dark horse in the College Football Playoff discussion. Downed 41-13 by rival Oklahoma, the Cowboys suffered their second conference defeat of the season and fell behind in terms of tiebreakers for a top-two spot.

Quarterbacks Spencer Sanders and Shane Illingworth combined for just 168 yards on 15-of-40 passing in an uninspired effort. Sanders threw an interception, Illingworth tossed a touchdown pass. The Cowboys running game was largely missing, as Chuba Hubbard had only 44 yards on eight carries and LD Brown and Dezmon Jackson added 49 yards on the ground. Oklahoma State’s defense gave up 492 yards to Spencer Rattler and company to stumble by four touchdowns.

Expect Oklahoma State to enter the inaugural 2020 College Football Playoff rankings somewhere in the high teens or low 20s. They will need to win out against Texas Tech, TCU, and Baylor, and also hope for another loss by either Oklahoma or Iowa State if they are going to reach the Big 12 championship game and try to play their way into a New Year’s Six bowl. At this point the College Football Playoff is entirely out of reach.
