Purdue Football: 3 takeaways from controversial loss to Minnesota

2. This game was full of wild plays
When college football began to resemble the game it is today, the game’s early progenitors designed it to be an offense-centered sport. This game was a perfect example of this. Both defenses did all they could to keep everything in front of them but to no avail. Not only did both offenses have their way in the game, but there were also some wild plays Friday night.
One of the craziest was David Bell’s reception from an interception. Defensive coordinator Bob Diaco might want to play Bell at cornerback the way he defended and came up with the ball. The call on Rondale Moore before halftime clearly did not have enough evidence to overturn that call.
Despite how wild the game got at the end, it was a fairly clean game with only one turnover and eight combined penalties. Perhaps the wildest of all things from Friday night is the Gophers managed to pull of the victory despite having 22 players out due to COVID-19 related issues or injuries and three coaches testing positive for the virus.
