Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from triple-overtime win over Rutgers
2. Cade McNamara needs to be QB1 moving forward
If there was any doubt heading into this game (which there obviously was from the coaching staff as Joe Milton started) about who the starting quarterback should be moving forward, it’s been squashed. Cade McNamara came in early on for Milton who was struggling yet again and he had himself quite the game.
Not only did he immediately spark the offense, but he scored the game-tying touchdown in the second overtime with his legs to send the game into a third extra frame.
McNamara looked like the better option at quarterback almost immediately after he entered the game, getting the Wolverines on the board with Cornelius Johnson streaking down the center of the field essentially unguarded for 46 yards.
The sophomore didn’t make many mistakes throughout the remainder of the game, finishing 27-for-36 with 260 yards and four touchdowns.
It’s pretty obvious that the Wolverines have found their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season and heading into the offseason until a certain blue-chip recruit shakes up the battle next year.
