1. Oklahoma Sooners (No. 11)

The biggest surprise to me is Oklahoma sitting at No. 11. While I do believe this ranking is warranted, I didn’t think the playoff committee would have a Big 12 team ranked this high. This just shows that they’re willing to have a team from Big 12 make the playoff with two losses.

Oklahoma is the second-highest ranked two-loss team behind Georgia (who I believe should be much lower) and having the Sooners right on the fringe of the top 10 shows that the committee still believes in Lincoln Riley and Co.

Spencer Rattler is playing great football for Oklahoma and the freshman quarterback looks to be the next star under center and the defense (yes, the defense) is actually playing well.

The Sooners look destined to make the Big 12 title game and they should finish the regular season with an 8-2 record. Let’s say that happens and Oklahoma is at No. 7 or No. 8 before the conference title game and the Sooners beat someone like a top-10 Iowa State team or ranked Texas or Oklahoma State teams. That’s grounds for making a jump into the top four.

Shocking doesn’t even begin to describe this ranking.
