Notre Dame football travels to take on North Carolina in a top 25 matchup. The Irish look to remain undefeated to stay on track for an ACC title game berth.

The No. 2 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish have their eyes set on an ACC title game berth in a few weeks, but still have three more games remaining on the schedule. Many people see North Carolina as the biggest threat to potentially knocking off Notre Dame and give them their first loss of the season.

Both teams are coming off a bye leading up to the game. So each side has had extra time to prepare. Notre Dame’s last loss actually come off a bye when they loss at Michigan last season 45-14 in Ann Arbor.

North Carolina comes into this matchup with a record of 6-2 on the season, and currently has a two game winning streak with wins over Duke and Wake Forest. The Tar Heels are led by their star quarterback Sam Howell. The sophomore is having an outstanding year. He has thrown for 2,631 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions.

North Carolina got as high as No. 5 in the rankings a few weeks ago, but had hiccups against Florida State and Virginia. The Tar Heels re-entered the top 25 this week coming in at No. 25.

Notre Dame comes into this matchup 8-0 on the season, and leading the FBS with a 14-game winning streak. Coach Brian Kelly currently has 100 wins as the head coach at Notre Dame. Brian Kelly is looking to get win No. 101 under his belt Friday afternoon and inch one win closer to the all time leader Knute Rockne who had 105 victories coaching the Irish.
