2. This is the Charlie Kolar we expected at the start of the year

When the season began, there was plenty of talk about Charlie Kolar potentially being the best tight end in the country, rivaling Florida’s Kyle Pitts.

Through seven appearances, Kolar had 25 catches for 286 yards and four touchdowns. No, that’s not at all bad for a tight end, but Kolar was supposed to be Brock Purdy’s favorite target and he has been nothing more than a third or fourth option regularly. He had not broken five receptions or 70 yards in any game this season.

That all changed against Texas as Kolar looked like a true No. 1 option in the passing game, leading all Iowa State pass-catchers with six catches for 131 yards.

Kolar has all the talent in the world and his frame would make any quarterback look good when tossing up a jump-ball so he needs to be more of a priority option moving forward.

We finally got to see the Kolar we expected when the season began.
