Everyone just expected Iowa to roll through Nebraska football on Friday night in an annual rivalry game but the Cornhuskers put up a fight.

Iowa was expected to roll right through Nebraska on Friday afternoon, but if we learned anything from this game, it was that the rivalry is always unpredictable.

The Hawkeyes were red-hot, winners of three straight games and Nebraska was coming off a devastating loss to Illinois in which the Cornhuskers looked past the Illini. To say these teams were on opposite ends of the spectrum would be an understatement.

Nebraska got the ball back with a couple of minutes left down by six but Adrian Martinez was hit while dropping back to pass and coughed the ball up at midfield to seal a win for Iowa.

What did we learn from this rivalry battle?

3. Wan’Dale Robinson needs to touch the ball more

Arguably the most dynamic player on the roster, Wan’Dale Robinson doesn’t touch the ball nearly enough. In fact, the sophomore running back/receiver had 21 catches for 152 yards and 23 carries for 120 yards entering Friday’s game.

For a player as explosive as Robinson, that’s just not good enough.

Robinson was an impressive player last season and for some reason, he’s being utilized even less this season. In fact, he’s averaging 5.2 yards per carry and 7.2 per reception but he has yet to reach the end zone and had just 44 total touches heading into Friday’s game at Iowa.

The sophomore finished with 42 rushing yards on just six carries and had a team-high nine catches for 75 yards.

Get Robinson the ball more.
