3. Regardless of weapons, Mac Jones is playing like nation’s top QB

This has been the season of many different new players stamping their legacy in the history of college football. One of the biggest surprises was BYU quarterback Zach Wilson, or the progression of Florida’s Kyle Trask. However, one of the most dominating quarterbacks considering the competition just might be Mac Jones.

It helps having the wide out playing the best football in all of America. However, what has been the most impressive improvement from last year has been the pocket awareness and poise of the Junior quarterback. It was shown the most on the touchdown pass to Billingsley.

Jones would show why he deserves to be a first round pick, as he sees the rush and steps up in the pocket. It is quickly collapsing and still finds a way to find Billingsley. Not only find him, but put unbelievable touch on the pass as it’s on his outside shoulder, the only spot where Billingsley can catch the football. Any other spot and it’s either overthrown or intercepted.

These five touchdowns were not easy throws, where the wide receiver made the play. These deep passes are on the money and near perfection, right where the receiver needs it. In a conference where a ton of hype has been around Trask, Jones could very well be the one holding the Heisman Trophy towards the back half of December.

No rest for the weary for Auburn as they head back home to face No. 5 Texas A&M. For Alabama, they will finish their regular season with another rivalry game as they travel to Death Valley to face LSU.
