Ole Miss football hosted Mississippi State and picked up a big win in the Egg Bowl, avenging a 2019 loss which ended on a sour note.

Mississippi State won last year’s Egg Bowl after Elijah Moore pretending to pee like a dog on a fire hydrant after scoring what looked like the game-tying touchdown. An excessive celebration penalty moved the extra point back 15 yards and the Rebels would miss and lose the game.

Ole Miss got their revenge this season with a 31-24 win over Mississippi State with new coaches on both sides of the field.

What’d we learn from the Rebels’ Egg Bowl win?

3. Secondary is not getting any better

Although there are plenty of reasons to be excited about the future of Ole Miss football but one of the most concerning areas for the Rebels has been the defense.

More specifically, the secondary.

The secondary has been atrocious this season and that continued against a Mississippi State passing attack that has been more down than up this season and a quarterback that hasn’t exactly proving himself yet. He’s still young and he hasn’t had a breakout game — until Saturday.

Will Rogers finished with 440 yards and three touchdowns on 45-of-61 passing.

Lane Kiffin will need to address this in the offseason.
