The Week 14 AP Poll saw some teams in the top 15 fall, but most stayed steady as we head to the final couple of weeks of the college football season.

One thing that should be easy to notice is the differences between the College Football Playoff rankings and the AP Poll. AP voters were giving more credit to teams like BYU and Oregon, while the selection committee did not think the same of either team and put them at 14 and 15, respectively. I’m pointing this out because the AP Poll tends to just move teams up while the committee says that they go into each week ready to move the teams anywhere.

There was not a lot of upward movement in the AP Poll this week.

Week 13 showed continued separation for three of the top four teams in the country this week, as Alabama, Notre Dame and Clemson dominated their games en route to victories. These three teams seem like virtual locks for the playoff barring anything shocking happening and AP voters seem to recognize this as well. Ohio State’s season is now in limbo due to positive COVID-19 cases within the program and that could hurt the Buckeyes in the eyes of some voters.

Oregon and Northwestern saw their playoff hopes dashed when they suffered big upsets at the hands of Oregon State and Michigan State and the voters dropped them in kind. These two losses put these teams out of New Year’s Six contention as well.

Texas and Auburn were two teams that lost this weekend and saw any chance of them salvaging anything meaningful from this season gone. Both of these teams could be undergoing a coaching change in the near future.

Here are the winners and losers from the Week 14 AP Poll release.
