Georgia football looked like a top 10 team in its dominant win over South Carolina on Saturday. What’d we learn from the thrashing?

A lot was made this week when the Georgia Bulldogs checked in at ninth in the initial College Football Playoff rankings and it was met with some skepticism after the Bulldogs barely got a by a two-win Mississippi State team last week.

This week, Georgia was a lot more dominant and looked like a top-10 team against a South Carolina team that does not look like it has a lot left in the tank for the season.

This was a payback game for Georgia after losing to the Gamecocks last season when the Bulldogs were a top-three team in Athens. I thought that this would be a game where Georgia would come out and play angry and I was right about that.

Georgia scored often and quickly at the start of this game and raced out to a 21-0 lead before South Carolina could even muster up a touchdown to make the game 21-7.

South Carolina turned back to freshman quarterback Luke Doty after he saw his first action last week against Missouri and the young quarterback played pretty admirably considering his circumstances. Doty was not provided much help in the run game and that put him in some tough passing downs which led to UGA unleashing the athletic pass rushers that they have coming off of the edge.

Georgia ran the ball much better than they did a week ago against Mississippi State, gashing the Gamecock defense repeatedly for big gains. The Georgia offensive line had their best performance of the season, paving the way for the running backs and giving JT Daniels plenty of time to throw the ball.

Georgia is hoping to finish the season strong and head to a possible New Year’s Six bowl game and South Carolina looked like they were already looking toward 2021.

Here are the three takeaways from the Georgia Bulldogs dominant win over South Carolina
