College football 2020: Ranking the 3 worst losses from Week 13
1. Louisiana-Monroe allows 70 to Louisiana
Rivalry week brings out the best of competition between two teams that hate each other. The Battle on the Bayou rivalry between the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks is one of the oldest non-Power Five rivalries in the nation. It’s one of two rivalry games in the Sun Belt to award a trophy to the winner.
This was a game in which one-loss Louisiana was destined to decisively beat the winless Warhawks. The Ragin’ Cajuns came out of Monroe with the biggest win on the road and overall, against their rivals as they won 70-20.
It was expected to be a close, high-scoring game when the Ragin’ Cajuns were up 21-14 going into the second quarter. In the second, however, they scored 28 points with three touchdowns coming from quarterback Levi Lewis.
The Ragin’ Cajuns forced three turnovers from the Warhawks and only allowed 247 total yards. Lewis threw for 147 yards, three touchdowns and had a QBR of 79.7 on 18-of-25 passing. Lewis also rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns on five rushes. The Warhawks allowed 344 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 42 carries for an average of 8.2 yards per rush.
The Sun Belt is feeling good about two of its teams ranked in the AP Top 25 in No. 14 Coastal Carolina (9-0) and No. 20 Louisiana. The Warhawks are sitting at the bottom of the Sun Belt with an 0-9 record.
