With December finally here, there’s still regular season to be played for Notre Dame football in this whacky COVID-19-impacted 2020 season.

Brian Kelly has to feel good about where his team is with one regular season game left on the schedule and an imminent appearance in the ACC Championship.

When Notre Dame joined the ACC for the season because of COVID-19 and with the move, no one expected the Irish to look like the favorite to top Clemson. With one win over the Tigers already, Notre Dame is on track for a rematch in the title game and even with a loss, it should be in the playoff.

When it’s all said and done, this will be one of the most successful seasons of Notre Dame football under Kelly and this will be a major building block for the program.

What could take place this month for the Irish?

3. Kyren Williams finishes with 1,200 rushing yards

The first thought that came to my mind when looking at what Kyren Williams could accomplish in December was reaching 1,000 yards, but that’s too much of a lock. He’s only 99 yards away with two games left.

Then I thought 1,100 yards, but averaging 100 yards per game over the last two is too easy. So that’s where 1,200 yards comes into play. Williams may ultimately approach 1,500 yards on the year, especially if the Irish make the national title game, but he’s going to top 1,200 by the end of the ACC title game which means he’ll need to rush for 300 yards over his final two games.

While that may not seem all that difficult to accomplish for such an impressive back, we have to remember one of those games will come against Clemson.

However, don’t be shocked if Williams approaches 1,250 yards before bowl season.
