Indiana travels to Madison on Saturday to take on Wisconsin football in a top 20 matchup. Can the Hoosiers add another major win to their resume?

When it was announced in the fall that the Big Ten would be having a season after all many people predicted Wisconsin to be ranked throughout the season. Not many had Indiana being ranked at all, and in fact be ranked higher than Wisconsin in the polls.

Indiana is coming off a 27-11 victory over Maryland. But there unfortunately was some bad news from Saturday surrounding the Hoosiers. It was announced early Monday that the Indiana Hoosiers star quarterback Michael Penix Jr. tore his ACL again and would miss the remainder of the season. This is a huge blow to the Hoosiers and Penix Jr. as he was having an outstanding year.

Wisconsin looks to get back on track against Indiana. The Badgers had to sit out last weekend due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Minnesota football program. The last time we all saw Wisconsin in action they did not play too well as they were upset at Northwestern.

The Big Ten East division has some huge implications on the line. Indiana finds themselves right in the thick of those implications too.

If Ohio State has one more cancellation this season they would be ineligible to play in the Big Ten championship. This would benefit Indiana as they would be in line to replace Ohio State and go to the Big Ten Championship to face off against Northwestern.

Unfortunately for Wisconsin, they are not eligible to play in the Big Ten title game this year. The Badgers have already had three cancellations, and will not hit the six game minimum requirement with only two games remaining on their schedule.

Right now, the rule for the Big Ten is that you have to play a minimum of six games to be eligible to play in the conference championship game. If more games are cancelled in the future the minimum very well could drop to five games being the new requirement. But that seems unlikely at this point, or fair to the other teams who have played the six game minimum.

We can worry about that at a later time if it comes down to it. Back to the action. Here are three bold predictions for this Big Ten matchup.
