1. BYU’s NY6 hopes shot?

For BYU, their chances of a playoff or even a New Year’s Six bowl are now gone. They played great all season long, and were two yards away from remaining undefeated. The hope is that BYU is given the respect they earned from this great season regardless of the loss.

The Cougars are still a productive team on both sides of the ball, with a great quarterback in Zach Wilson. They have one final game against San Diego State next week. As for their bowl game, it is uncertain but would be great to see BYU play a top 25 team. They are still a quality 9-1 team and any bowl game with Zach Wilson will be great viewing for college football fans.

As for Coastal Carolina, they are still in an uphill battle to secure a New Year’s Six berth. Cincinnati is still in front of them by a wide margin. In order, to surpass them they would probably need Tulsa to win at least one of the next two games against Cincinnati.

As a team that is 10-0, they do not need a New Year’s Six bowl to define them. They have played great ball all season with solid wins over: BYU, Louisiana, and Appalachian State. Their offense has been quietly among the best in the nation, as they have scored 30-plus points in 7-of-10 games.

Moving forward, they have a game against Troy and the Sun Belt Championship game against Louisiana. If they finish off as a 12-0 conference champion, we will have a great debate between them or Cincinnati for the New Year’s Six spot.
